2-Year MBA Programmes

Madras School of Economics (MSE) offers 2-year MBA programs in (i) Finance and (ii) Business Analytics under the MSE Business School, starting from the academic year 2025-26, awarded by the MSE under its degree granting power as per MSE Act 2020.

The two MBA programs aim to train students for technically challenging jobs with financial institutions, consulting services, and analytics companies. They also provide a unique combination of knowledge of complex theories with rigorous exposure to the underlying mathematical-statistical concepts and practical financial/ analytical modelling to enhance the abilities of the students to meet the demands of today’s industry, especially companies committed to data-driven decision-making. Experts from the industry further enrich the student’s ability.

The objectives of the MBA programs are to:

  •  Develop a strong foundation for interdisciplinary work,
     Combine Courses from Finance, Economics, Management, Business Analytics and Data Sciences,
     Provide exposure to the latest trends in academia and industry through projects and internships
     Offer good placement opportunities

Eligibility

a) Academic Qualifications: Applicants must have completed their undergraduate studies in social sciences (including commerce & management), sciences, mathematics, statistics, or
engineering in their first attempt. Final-year undergraduate students appearing for their exams in May 2025 are also eligible. Additionally, candidates must have secured a minimum of 60%
marks in Class X, and XII.
b) Minimum Percentage Requirements at the Undergraduate Level: A minimum of 55% for General category, 50% for OBC – Non-Creamy Layer, and 45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates is required.
c) Age Limit: Candidates should not be older than 25 years as of July 1, 2025.
d) Mathematics Requirement: Candidates should have studied Mathematics at the Class XII level or an equivalent qualification. This includes a pass certificate from the National Institute
of Open Schooling (Senior Secondary Level Mathematics) or completion of mathematical economics courses at the undergraduate level, covering topics such as Linear Algebra, Differential Calculus (single & multivariable), and Optimization (Linear & Non-linear).
e) Additional Requirements: Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree from a recognized university under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 system and must not have any arrears or backlogs at
the time of joining the program. Additionally, they must have valid scores from any of the following entrance exams: CAT, GMAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, or ATMA.

Number of Seats

The intake for each of the M.B.A. Programs will be 47, including a 35% quota for the resident
students of Tamil Nadu. Reservation Policy of Government of Tamil Nadu will be followed.
